The Indiana men’s soccer program also received two individual player honors after the announcement of Todd Yeagley as the 2019 Big Ten Coach of the Year. Sophomore Jack Maher was named the 2019 Defender of the Year and freshman Aidan Morris was named Freshman of the Year.
Maher, a native of Casevilly, Illinois, helped the Hoosiers in only allowing 15 goals in 17 games this season, including six shutouts. He was the Big Ten’s freshman of the year last year and he joins a prestigious group of Grant Lillard (2017) and Andrew Gutman (2018) to win this award.
Newcomer Morris helped the Hoosiers tally a total of 34 goals this season. The Florida native contributed six assists and two goals himself. He follows a long lineage of Indiana Hoosiers to win this award, a total of 15 players before him. Recent winners include Maher in 2018, and Mason Toye in 2017.
