Michael Durr’s High School Career and Recruiting

Michael Durr played for Oldsmar High School in Oldsmar, Florida. He was a standout athlete that averaged 12.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.0 blocks per game as a junior. He was part of the team that won the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association state title. He played for the Atlanta Xpress AAU team and was a three-star recruit for the state of Georgia. He was rated as the No. 12 recruit from Georgia in 2018.

Durr held eight offers from Division I programs including University of South Florida, DePaul, Georgetown, Memphis, and Texas Tech. He ultimately decided to join the University of South Florida and enrolled on June 1, 2018.

Michael Durr’s University of South Florida Career

Michael Durr made an immediate impact for the Bulls in his first season. He started in 37 of 38 games in which he appeared for the team. He averaged 5.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. He was 13th in the conference in rebounds per game and 7th in blocks per game. He recorded the second-most rebounds (235) in a single season by a freshman in school history.

As a sophomore, he started in 29 of 30 games and increased his minutes to 24.2 from 21.3 per game. He increased his points per game to 6.7 per game. Against East Carolina (Feb. 26, 2020), he scored a then career high of 15 points in their overtime victory.

As a junior, he increased his point total per game to 8.8 points and played in 19 games on the season. His role increased overall as his minutes increased more to 26.4 per game and he led the team with 7.9 rebounds per game. After the 2020-2021 season, he opted to transfer from the Bulls.

Michael Durr’s Career at Indiana

Michael Durr originally decided to commit to Virginia Tech after he transferred from University of South Florida. However, on May 10, 2021, he decided to reopen his recruitment. He received interest from Penn State, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, and DePaul.

On May 13, 2021, Jerome Hunter decided to not return to the program for the 2021-2022 season which left a scholarship spot open for the Hoosiers. Michael Durr announced his commitment to the Hoosiers on May 17, 2021.
