Four-star in-state guard Anthony Leal is expected to make his college decision this Friday, August 6 according to a tweet from TiptonEdits, a well-recognized creator of recruiting graphics and information. Leal announced a final two schools of Indiana and Stanford earlier last month. His decision comes shortly after the Hoosiers received a commitment from fellow 2020 in-state guard and Leal’s close friend Trey Galloway.

Anthony Leal is currently the number one ranked player in the state of Indiana for the 2020 class. He is also ranked top 100 overall in his class and ranked in the top 20 among shooting guards.

When additional details about his announcement are made available, we will update this article to add new information.

Given that Anthony Leal is a Bloomington native, the recruiting race between the hometown Hoosiers against a west-coast Stanford team has created an interesting contrast of recruiting preferences. The dichotomy of the schools gave Leal two very different scenarios to consider. The question is whether Stanford’s academics and athletic program sold Leal enough or has Trey Galloway been successful convince Leal to stay home.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball has national and Indiana-specific analysts predicting the Hoosiers. All picks logged have been favorable for IU. Despite these picks, the race between Indiana and Stanford was not as one-sided as one may believe from looking at the predictions.

All sources have stated that Stanford has been a legitimate contender and the academic background of the university has really interested Anthony Leal and his family. Time will tell if that is enough to pull him 2,000 miles away from home.
