Archie Miller on a Streak of Recruiting Visits

The 2019 recruiting calendar calls for the current open recruiting period to end Thursday, May 3rd. With the remaining days available, Archie Miller and the Indiana staff are making the most of the open contact period by scheduling a number of key recruiting visits. After Thursday, the NCAA only scheduled evaluation periods, quiet periods, and dead periods for the remainder of the spring and summer seasons. Evaluation periods are interspersed during the summer, with the first evaluation period taking place on June 13th and June 14th. These periods are paired in conjunction with the modified NCAA recruiting events. Quiet periods dictate that coaches can host players on campus, but cannot interact off-campus. Dead periods are the most limiting where campus or off-campus visits are both not permitted.

Here’s how Archie Miller and the Indiana staff have been reported to be spending the remainder of the recruiting period:

• Monday: In-home visits with 2020 SG Trey Galloway and 2020 SG Anthony Leal. Both were offered. This is a significant development since both players were waiting for the Indiana offer.

• Tuesday: 4-Star PG Caleb Love (Missouri) will be meeting with the Indiana staff at home. Newly offered 2020 PF Matt Cross (Connecticut) is also expected to meet with Archie Miller. Cross is an upward trending current 3-star recruit that plays more of a wing role. In a later update for the day, the Hoosiers also offered 5-star PF Dawson Garcia. The D1 Minnesota product played on the same team as Race Thompson where assistant coach Tom Ostrom has strong connections.

• Wednesday: 4-star 2020 PG R.J. Davis will be getting visits from Indiana at his high school. R.J. Davis has been play very well for his AAU team.

• Thursday: 4-star 2019 SG Lester Quinones who is fresh off of his visit to Bloomington will get a visit from Archie Miller before a May 10th decision date. Quinones has openly stated that he is leaning towards Memphis and Indiana over others that are chasing him.

The staff surely is not taking any time off. Given the emphasis on guards, Indiana has certainly put the priority on finding one or multiple guards between the 2019 and 2020 classes. The summer of 2019 will have a series of new NCAA changes and it will be interesting to see how coaches across division 1 handle the nuances.
