Indiana Basketball: Lineup Report | Minnesota — Feb 19, 2020

Indiana finally earned their second road win of the season as they defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers by a final margin of 68-56. The Hoosiers were enabled by career nights from freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis and redshirt sophomore Race Thompson.

Notably, Archie Miller was a lot quicker to rotate the “hot” players in on Wednesday evening. For example, after just 2:12 in the first half, Miller swapped out Joey Brunk for De’Ron Davis, who was clearly the best player in Indiana’s previous game against Michigan. As you’ll see, this was the first time this season that the starters did not have the most minutes among all lineups.

Notes from the Lineup Report

• For the first time this year, the starting lineup did not play the most minutes in a game. In fact, the group of Phinisee, Durham, Smith, Jackson-Davis, and Brunk only played 4:22, the 4th-most out of any lineup.
• For the first time this season, Al Durham had a positive +/- in a road game.
• The frontcourt of Race Thompson and Trayce Jackson-Davis played 20:18 out of 40 possible minutes. With Race and TJD on the court, Indiana went +21.
• Race Thompson finished with the highest individual +/- at a positive 21. Thompson continues to impact the floor in ways other than scoring. His ten rebounds are a testament to that.
• Justin Smith also similarly impacted the game without making a major dent in the scoring column. He was second on the team in +/- at 16, and Indiana’s defense played better with him on the floor. Minnesota scored at 1.2 points per minute while Smith played but at 2.2 points per minute when he didn’t.
