Indiana reached out for their fourth offer for the class of 2022 and extended an offer to point guard Bruce Thornton from Milton, Ga. The Alpharetta, Ga. native has started to gather plenty of high-major team interest with offers from Purdue, Clemson, Georgia, Xavier and Miami – to name a few. Since his offer from the Hoosiers on June 5, Thorton has added offers from Ohio State and Maryland.
Bruce Thornton is a physical 6-foot-2-inch point guard weighing in at 180 pounds. He has been listed as a first team all-state selection by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, was a sophomore all-American team selection by MaxPreps, and has led his school to the state semifinals this sophomore season.
He is listed as a high 4-star recruit (0.9886 247Sports Composite) and the 31st best player as well as the seventh best point guard in the nation. He has been gradually climbing the ranks as he was listed in the mid-40’s rank-wise last fall.
Thornton is a big physical guard that has the ability to power himself over the defense. He used this physicality to get to 23 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.
Of note, his father was an exceptional athlete that played for the University of Georgia as a cornerback who got drafted to play for the Dallas Cowboys in 2004 in the fourth round (121st pick overall). He played in the NFL until 2007.
Thornton has yet to decide on whether he will visit Indiana. He has taken unofficial visits to Georgia and Kennesaw State last year.
